PASTOR’S BIOGRAPHY
The Reverend W.B. Davidson was born in Passaic, New Jersey, the son of William and Louise Davidson. He received his education in the Passaic School system. Upon graduation, he entered the United States Air Force.
Rev. Davidson’s Air Force career spanned 9 years. During this time, he was decorated with the Air Force Accommodation Medal (Oak Leaf Cluster), and the Air Force Achievement Medal. Whilst in the Armed Forces, he attended the Community College of the Air Force for Applied Sciences. He concluded his service commitment having achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant.
Propelled by the Holy Spirit, Rev. Davidson accepted the call to the ministry in 1993, and was licensed in May of that same year. Upon accepting this great commission to the gospel ministry, he enrolled in Tyndale Theological Seminary and Bible Institute. While attending Tyndale, he served as an associate minister at the Morningside Missionary Baptist Church, Ft. Worth, Texas, under the pastorate of the Rev. K.R.Walton. He graduated fromTyndale in December 1994.
While at Morningside, Rev. Davidson was entrusted with the coordination of a Men’s Outreach Ministry. This ministry proved to be very fruitful, as souls were saved and lost hope had been restored. He also served in the capacity of Assistant Sunday School Superintendent. His affiliation with the Morningside Church ended in August 1995, when he relocated to the place of his birth.
After completing this cross-country transition, Rev. Davidson’s first order of business was to find a place to worship. He was led, under the unction of the Holy Spirit, to the First Mount Zion Baptist Church in Newark. His long time friend, Dr. L.Ronald Durham was pastor.
During his tenure with Dr. Durham, Rev. Davidson was assigned to the Outreach Ministry. In this capacity, he developed and implemented a 12 step abuse and intervention program, from a Christian perspective. This program proved to be successful. He also served as Youth Pastor and Superintendent of Sunday School.
Rev. Davidson was selected by God, and called by the membership of the Roger Williams Institutional Baptist Church on June 20, 1997. He was officially elected pastor on October 10, 1997. Since that time, he has striven to instill a spirit of Christian unity and fellowship. His insightful bible-based, Christ centered teaching, has been instrumental in the resolve to, "Walk by Faith".
Under his inspired leadership the Roger Williams Church has made wonderful improvements to the sanctuary, and has purchased a van to further promote the gospel ministry. Cosmetic accomplishments not with standing, it is the spiritual growth that is producing the fruits of this ministry.
Rev. Davidson’s life has been further enriched by the Almighty, with the blessing of his loving help-meet the former Lynda Gary, and two wonderful children, William Jr. And Danielle Marie Davidson.
